jad
2-24-05 Hardy Handshake set in the 1/4" range warmup: 25x10, 50x5, 75x3 working sets: RH: 87.5 for 5 singles, 90 for 4 singles, missed the fifth, 75x4 reps with 3 fingers LH: 87.5x0, 82.5 for 10 singles Bending Warmed up with some TT's 5/16"x7" G2bolt: u'd it, PTL Red Nail: felt like it was going to give but .....it didnt' G5x1 previously kinked G8 that I've never been able to finish off: u'd it but it about killed me, crush down was just ridiculous
HAMMERHEAD
You're doin' good bending. I felt that the 7inch 5/16 g2 bolt was a good step from the G8 to the Red. Harder to start than a G8. This got me used to the 7 inch length. G8 crush down is tough. -HH
FrankyBoy
Comeon jad, even the G8 is just a bolt. I know the last part is quite funny but isn't that far away from a Red. If you can crush down a G8 you can crush down a Red. Soon you'll laugh about the G8. Keep the good work.
jad
2-26-05 Thanks guys. Congrats on your Reds HH . I think that's really cool that you're dedicating them to Eric. I thought I read you did a red too Franky, if so congrats to you as well Sledge rotations: hand above 1st hole: 10 reps both hands hand below 1st hole: 6 reps both hands hand below 2nd hole: 6 reps both hands 5 blobkta cycles upped the accessory lifts by 1 small washer nailed almost all of them righty, missed several lefty some strong lockouts on the blob50 righty, 1 good 3 fingered one, doing some negatives with two fingers again to get back to the two finger level again. No air on the lefty attempts Vbar played with this some more tonight: blew up to 250 righty and stirred 275. Just stirred 225 lefty. My left hand is truly pathetic compared to my right: grippers, blobs, and now Vbar. This is a fun lift but I don't see anyway to get serious with it without losing a bunch of skin, which screws me for my other grip workouts. I'll just keep messing with it and see what happens BTW, anybody know if you're allowed to brance the free hand on the thigh? HardyHandshake: 1/4"-1/2" ROM warm-up: 25x10,, 50x5, 75x3 RH: 92.5x1, 92.5x0, 92.5 3/4rep, 92.5x1 LH: 85x1, 90x0, 85x1, 85x1, 85x1 Edited February 27, 2005 by jad
Mikael Siversson
2-26-05BTW, anybody know if you're allowed to brance the free hand on the thigh? ← Yes, you are. If the skin is comming off easily you might need to set your hand differently. Try to copy Johan Albrektsson's technique (video clips on the Gripboard, competition section, 2004 European Championship). Are you using a LGC v-bar replica? These provide quite good friction which limits skin damage. It is better to do multiple singels at 90-95 per cent of you max than going all out. This approach is much better for the skin. The skin tends to come off when you are right at your limit and the bar starts to slip.
FrankyBoy
Josh, you might want to try the 1/4" square stock from FBBC. Its a perfect intermediate from the G8 to the Red especially since it has 7" also. So you've already the feel for the Red.
jad
2-28-05 Thanks for the advice Mikael. I'll take a look at Johan's vids and pics. It's not a LGC replica, just a Clay Edgin Home Depot replica I really like the idea of doing singles at 90-95% of the max, that makes a lot sense in regards to limiting the skin loss, while still training hard Franky, is the FB square stock tougher than Lowe's square stock? I've 3'5" left of my 1/4" square stock and I thought it (7x1/4")felt harder than a G8 to start but easier to crush down. OAP workout BW 231lbs One arm lat pulldown RH: 80x8, 110x5, 120x3, 130x3, 140x3, 150x2, 160 to top of ear, 160 to top of ear, 2 negatives with 190 LH: 80x8, 110x5, 120x3x3x3x2
FrankyBoy
I only bent the square from FBBC. Since my problem always was the kink and not the crush down I wanted something tougher than the G8.
jad
After watching your Red videos, it doesn't look like you have much of a problem with anything anymore
jad
3-2-05 Got some new grippers for my birthday so I thought I'd test em' out! BBGE with 1/4" mounting Attempts set 1: 1/4" set 2: 1/8" Choker work set 3: put it in the choker for attempt then negative: 1/8/1/16 set 4: same as above set 5: same as above set 6: 1/8/ credit card thought I had it held shut set 7: barely moved it/ did the negative but it pretty much blew open **held the negatives for 5-7 seconds Phantom 4 replica (Thanks to Terminator for help on the specs) .295 spring( he told me .292 or .293 but I just went with the .295 because I've already got two other .295 springs), 34 degree leg angle, 3.25" spread, 1/4" mounting, and chromed handles set 1: 1/3-1/2" set 2: 1/4" set 3 in choker: attempt was about 1/4, negative was about 1/8" from being shut ***This thing is a BEAST The BBGE is exactly what I wanted. It's a PERFECT step between my MM3dud and BBSE. That P4dud is tough due to the sweep and SLICK handles. I also got some 2 1/8" ID washers, so let the microloading begin on the Wrist Curl Challenge log!

jad
3-4-05 5 Blob KTA cycles: ditched the small washer and add one of my 8oz ones got some good lockouts RH and some nice holds with 2 fingers. Bending IM Red Nail: U'd it...Finally, PTL Thanks to Kerbjr for all the help on the DO technique 6.5" FBS: Got this from KerbJr. I assume it's FBS, it's 5/16 and the ends/edges are filed smooth. It was a TON harder than the red. I took the red down in about 1 minute, maybe a hair over or under but this stuff I just had to keep working on between BlobKTA cycles. PTL I finally got it Sledge rotations 1st hole: 10 per hand last hole: 3 per hand

pdoire
Josh, it has been very interesting watching your training log and how you have shifted and changed as your goals have changed..there is much to learn here...not only in your specific exercises...but in your strategic approach to achieving your goals. You are one of a very select few who still choose to log your workouts, there is a need for more 3+ closers to post their training logs to teach others...but they do not, seems once someone closes the 3 ..they now keep any additional training a secret..glad you don't subscribe to that philosophy...thank you!!
