I apologize if this Interview has been posted before. In the early 2000s, David Horne published a little journal/magazine called Iron Grip Magazine. I saw an ad for it towards the end of an issue of MILO Magazine, and sent away for a subscription. The first issue I received had this article in it, an Interview with Richard Sorin by David Horne. I lifted it from David's website, it was easily obtained by Googling "David Horne Richard Sorin":

I have that Milo.  What a great article by an Iron Grip Strength Legend.

Wow.  Very sad to hear this.  I only had the pleasure of meeting Richard Sorin one time, but it was certainly an impactful part of my life.  It was June 22, 2002.  I met him and two other now deceased Grip legends(Slim the Hammerman and John Hicks) that night.  After reading John Brookfield's book, I always idolized Richard Sorin.  The old Sorinex website had some amazing pics of his previous grip feats--Has anyone else done a grip lockout of 1300+lbs on a regular lifting bar with no straps?  Richard excelled at grip and it was truly just an "icing on the cake" part of his overall workouts--how many other grip legends can say that?  Magnus Samuelson comes to mind, but everyone else was a specialist in their own right and I'm not sure any other hardcore girp guys besides Richard, Carl Myerscough, and maybe Alan Barch truly excelled in any activity other than grip. (apologies to anyone I'm missing)

Despite my limited time with Richard, I have always supported his company and have several pieces of Sorinex equipment in my personal gym.  I don't know if it is coincidence or fate, but I swear on my children I just received my order of "Big Shot" knurled shot glasses earlier in the day today (6/19/24).  I wouldn't have imagined I'd receive this sad news the same day.   Anyways, RIP Richard, you and your family are in my prayers.

So I did a little research on my own question from my previous post.  Apparently there was a challenge in 2019 for this feat and I don't think anyone came all that close.  I think most of Richard's feats with pinch, grippers and other single handed lifts have been replicated.  But I think its fair to say that he still has supported the most weight in his hands of any human ever.  Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to be an amazing grip feat that hardly anyone talks about.  Who else could even come close to a 1331lb lockout?  Carl Myerscough maybe, but I wouldn't bet on him breaking this record without training.  Herman Goerner and Louis Uni are the only other people in history coming to mind that would stand a chance at this feat.  Odd that I couldn't even find a topic on this board that has well over two decades of grip discussion.  Anyway here is the video.

Here is a video discussing those that entered.  No one even hit 1100.
