I did have the advantage I was the only person in the U83k class. Was some British records set & the standard was high. I did have the choice on farmers of 75 or 95k so I went 120k . Managed to beat a few lads who did their 115 class weights. Hit 31 secs with the 120, 1.5 x body weight despite having a bad tech according to a few lads lol. Another bonus to the day is I picked up a bit of a sponsorship from Phat Muscle Coaching. Sam helped me for todays comp & will be helping me in the near future. Looking forward to my grip improving & going from strength to strength. I will be at Devon’s Strongest Hands to defend my title nxt yr.

PINCH BLOCK Gave it a good go but not to be HUB Felt good for this one. Gave it a good go. HORNE TOP Never used the kit before but felt pretty good FARMERS HOLD Was really looking forward to this event. Bit annoyed with myself as I should of gone 130k per hand . 120 felt pretty comfy & put them down when I hit the 30 sec mark. Really enjoyed the comp & it had a great atmosphere. Happy enough with what I did as I hit PB’s on everything really. Gives me some idea where I need to improve besides everywhere. Entered the next comp in Nov so about 20 wks to for Phat Sam to improve my grip . Dud manage to royally fcuk my weight cut for this comp tho. Ended up driving to the comp in a bin bag with a woolly hat & hoodie on. Must of been warm as a can of Pepsi Max I had in the foot well exploded all over me Have put wheels in motion to open my gym to a few people & start my own grip club. Will see how it goes. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thank you I feel I’m very lucky in the fact I have a garage gym & enough kit to start a little grip group. I think instead of waiting for someone else to do it I should give a go. I have 2 lads who want to do the next comp so am thinking let’s do it. Anybody have any input on how to run a grip club then please feel free to post your ideas please. One thing I’m definitely going to do is travel to train with people I think can help me improve my grip.

SOCK BOY
Thurs 1/8/24 50mm Rolling Thunder 20k x 4 50k 3 x 5 reps 2 Hand Pinch Block 40 3 x 8 reps Fat Gripz Hang secs 19 Reverse Wrist Curls Bar 3 x 25 Rolling thunder was pretty comfy Pinch I used my new 2 hand pinch block. Pretty easy . Fat Gripz Hold as usual not a great exercises for me but will keep plugging away. Reverse Wrist Curls getting slightly better at these. First sess on the road to my next comp. Working with Phat Sam so I just let him do his thing & just follow what ever routine he sends me. Having a few issues with my right hand at the minute. I did some dinnie ring work on mon & this ruined my fingers. The heat & the training has really annoyed my arthritis. I can’t even close my right hand at the min my new 2 hand pinch block .

SOCK BOY
MON 19/8/24 SAXON BAR 12K x 3 32K x 3 45K x 3 57.5K x 1 , 1, 1 45K x 6,6 50mm ROLLING HANDLE L/H 30K x 2 40K x 2 50K x 2 60K x 3,3,F R/H 40K x 8,8,8 THUMBLESS AXLE SHRUGS 65K x 30 REVERSE WRIST CURLS BAR X 20,20,20 Not a bad sess. Bit disappointed with the rolling handle. Tried to season my Saxon Bar tonight but still open to any ideas from people. As usual it was a fun sess & got it done sharpish. Nursung an injury I picked up when doing my weights this morning at 5. Did some leg curls & managed to pull something in the front of my quads. Injury making getting up & down on the scaffolding a bit of a pain but I’m sure it’ll be better by tomorrow, fingers crossed.

SOCK BOY
THURS 29/8/24 AXLE DEADLIFTS 40k x 2 70k x 2 82.5k x 5,5,5 SAXON BAR 35k x 2 50k x 8,8,8 SAXON BAR STANDING WRIST CURL 37.5k x 15,15,15 REVERSE WRIST CURLS Bar x 25,25,25 Axle Deads felt pretty comfy. I was surprised. Saxon Bar was real hard. Only just got reps & had to reset a couple times. Saxon Wrist Curls were hard work. Hit the spot so another good new exercise. Wrist Curls hit hard . My knuckles on my left hand kept cracking Did a few extra exercises as I had a mate round who fancies doing a bit of grip. Not happy as he was better than me on nearly everything we did & he’s not trained his grip much If he gets too good I’ll just stop him using any of my kit
SOCK BOY
MON 2/9/24 SAXON BAR 32k x 2 50k x 1 60k x F 55k x 1,1,1 47.5k x 8,8,8 50mm ROLLING HANDLE LEFT 30k x 2. 40k x 2 55k x 5,5,4 RIGHT 30k x 2 40k x 10,10,10 THUMBLESS AXLE SHRUGS 70k x 25 REVERSE WRIST CURLS BAR x 20,20,20 SAXON felt rediculously heavy & my grip just wasn’t there today. Gutted I had to drop the weight to get some reps. ROLLING HANDLE was another shocker. I prob wouldn’t of given some of the reps in a comp. AXLE SHRUGS felt pretty good. At last something went a bit better. REVERSE WRIST CURLS seem to be my saviour. I can nearly always pull these out the bag. Some sessions I do wonder if my grip is ever going to get any better, good job I’m in no rush to get better. Going to just keep plugging away. Just like the fact that if I have a shocking sess I don’t take it too badly & I certainly don’t lose any sleep over it . Cheers
