Phil K
Given that the best guys seem to train one or two events and then sometimes add a few things as a comp comes closer, I’m thinking that I should possibly focus on just two exercises and then when I’ve hit some goals maybe move to another goal as a next feat to accomplish. My choices would be Horn and grippers for now, or maybe just grippers and flask. I say this because grippers seem to be stuck and Horn is close to where I want it, same with the Flask. Guess I’m just frustrated and rambling …just slow progress with grip stuff. I’d welcome any feedback.

That lets you do more things yet progress, if this is what you enjoy. I'm only doing that because I like it this way, but some really strong people prepare this way for comps. As long as you're doing something with both hands, you don't really need to worry about imbalances. But I understand that this method is not for everyone. If I would train only two things (with both hands) I would choose the one I enjoy the most, and then one I'm not really good at but I want to improve

I've actually been thinking about cutting out a few grip lifts and just focusing on 2 or 3. I think it depends on your goals, ask yourself what you'd like short term and long term. Grip is very slow but as long as you're having fun along the way who cares. I think Flask and grippers would be a great combo. Crush and pinch..
Phil K
TYVM for the kind responses. I think I like the idea of two feats. I can think that doing grippers, as it’s one I’ve not really improved on in any real sense and doing Flask, because I’m so close to finishing my goal is the one combination for now. Plus, a thick thumb pad is good for grippers and a strong thumb is great in general. I like the idea of doing A and B sessions and alternating them as I feel rested. Cigar wise? A Vegueros Tapados…I’ve got a small stash of Cuban cigars in my humidor, but I’m mostly smoking new world sticks anymore. Definitely willing to share ideas and thoughts there if needed

I’ve had a couple Cubans and they were good, I’d never turn one down but I’ll take a good Nicaraguan blend any day. Don Pepin makes some of the best and Padron. For a cheap stick try a Parodi. Fire cured no humidor needed, very smoky flavor. I love a good bowl of pipe tobacco too and the aroma is more friendly if you have company. keep up the good work sounds like you have a solid plan. 1

Phil K
Grippers Just another painful gripper session. Felt okay, used straps on deadlifts yesterday to save my hands and it’s been a good while since I’ve been doing well with them. Trying to figure out what’s going on and it’s feeling a little bit frustrating. I’ll rest up and go back to work in a day or two. Sometimes those can zap your CNS and affect your gripping, even if you’ve mitigated muscular fatigue (i.e. using straps).
