2strong
After all the talk about bending lately, I decided to give it a try. I have two types of nails... Type 1 : 120 mm long - square - zinc coated - fairly easy to bend ( unbraced ). Type 2 : 190 mm long / 6 mm thick - square - zinc coated - incredible hard to bend ( for me anyway ) and I had to use every little muscle I have in my body. And I also discovered two things... 1. It's amazing how difficult it is to bend a little nail... 2. I am weak and the technique I use to bend nails is horrible. I tried every imaginable technique I could come up with and it was a struggle from start to finish. Conclusion : I feel weak after watching the pics of bent wrenches etc... that you guys have destroyed... PS. Does anyone know how the largest nail compares to the Ironmind nails ?? green nail ?? Anyway here are some pics ( don't laugh... I'm new at this ! ) : http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail1.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail2.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail3.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail4.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail5.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail6.jpg http://home.nktv.no/~dagroye/nail/nail7.jpg

EricMilfeld
Dag, will you be ordering the IM yellows or blues? Watch out, I've found this bending to be very addictive. And extremely taxing on the tendons. So as far as training goes, do as I say and not as I do. In other words, take it slow and easy at first. Welcome to the growing number of enthusiastic benders! 2strong
Ironmind greens are I believe 4.76250 mm thick 127 mm long Is the green nail a good starting place for newbies ?... or is it to tough ? I'm planning to buy some nails from Ironmind and I want nails that suits my very limited bending power. I will try to take it easy, but I won't promise anything ! OldGuy
Green will seem like wire coathangers. I would get yellows and then cut them down a little as you get stronger. Yellows are 6.35 mm

Clay Edgin
I think it's funny that you were exerting so much pressure that you ripped your sweat pants in a couple places! Now that's intensity!

opnsysme
2strong , I wold just goto Home Depot or any other hardware store and buy a 4 foot piece of 3/16" and 1/4 then use a hack saw or bolt cutters to trim to 7 inches then 6 inches then 5 inches
Big Steve
Dag You are doing just fine. That is a nice hunk if steel. Training like that will give you a good feel of the steel and how it bends. In time it will all come together.

They are going to be the new standard. The only bars really worth getting from Ironmind will be the Red. The nail you bent is probably harder than the yellow nail, so you are well on your way. 2strong
Thanks for the great advises and inputs guys ! First I will try out the Ironmind nails and buy some more ordinary nails to train on... My first goal is to improve my horrible technique ( You have to learn to walk before you can run ). PS. I don't think we have home depot in Norway, but we have similar shops.
