How hard should one hold the bar against the neck when kinking? Should it just be light pressure, or should the bar really be pressed hard up against the neck?

Just light pressure really. More of a positional thing to get the best torque on the bar.

It seems to be a matter of preference from what I've seen. Some guys don't even have the flexibility to get it to the neck. Experiment and see what feels right to you.

My neck just helps me stabilize the bar in the kink position. Then the powerful muscles of the upper body take over.

I might graze my neck with the bar, but usually, it does not touch.  Or it is incidental.

I tuck the bar tight against my neck to create the best leverage & torque.

Not to the point of pain- but it just seems to stabilize everything better and create more tension!

Good luck bud!
