Daniel Fleming
Besides chalk helping with sweaty hands, I feel like it helps protect the fingers (especially the pinky) from shredding as much as If you didn't use chalk.
temmmeeee
Just started practicing pinch some today for poops and giggles. Last time I tried I struggled hard with only a 30lb dumbbell face lift and 3 10 lb plates. For poops and giggles I gave it a try today with the chalk I recently got and got a 40lb dumbbell face lift super easily with both hands, 4 10 lb plates with my left, and 5 with my right. Just adding this for those who were like me and debating getting chalk. I just thought I just had super crappy pinch grip all these months but i actually just sweat a lot. Using chalk feels almost like cheating lol. It has worked like magic for me in both my pinch and crush, and has given me more confidence now that I'm witnessing my real potential without all the sweat
exarmy
I'd like to re-open this topic about chalk, heres what I think about it. deduced this from my RRBT workout, I used chalk for the 1st time in months and went from very hard closes, missing a few by 1mm and a very long workout because I would need to take longer rests, to just slamming it shut and and hearing clicks every time and getting the workout done in half the time. got me thinking..... Without chalk gripper is harder to close unless the set is 100% right (makes you practice setting better) right at the close my fingers slip sometimes which make it harder (makes it harder, better for training) sometimes miss the close by <1mm (I think the above point and this one cancel each other out; so I miss the close, but it still takes the same effort if not more) No mess anywhere, if you use grippers in your living room or office desk this is a big plus With chalk set does not have to be perfect (will always training with chalk reduce your setting skill to the point where you need chalk all the time to be as strong?) easier to close gripper skin tears easier (con) Chalk makes a mess (con) I don't like using it unless I have to, EG, when it's warm/humid which makes my hands slightly sweaty, or when I'm going for a PR. for general training I like to go without, seems to add a bit of a challenge to the training and gives you that extra little bit of power when going for a PR
