Wade Gillingham
I hadn't tried doing any no set stuff until I saw Dave Morton's video. That night I was at least 1/2" off with my #3. In two weeks I closed it with no set and tonight I got a video. No grinding but I got the job done. http://www.jackalsgym.com/gallery/NoSet3-4-8-03.wmv

don of tha new grip
Wade looks great how many times can you rep it? And how close are you on the #4?
Wade Gillingham
I don't do any reps with the #3 anymore. If I set it deep it is very easy for me right now, but no set is very hard so I'm concentrating on that at the moment. #4 is still progressing. HandsofStone
That's impressive... can you close the #3 with just 2 or 3 fingers yet? LJ
Gripper42004
I like doing the #3 & the #2 without the set. It makes it feel like a much harder gripper.
amaury
Wow light speed closure, your #3 looks like a #1 in your hands !
Griparn
Nice work! This is a "real" #3 close for me
tmmicklabs
Good job Wade. I noticed that you were using chalk. Have you tried a no-set # 3 close without chalk ? How many of us on the Grip Board use chalk ? I've never tried it. Does it seem to help ?
Tom Black
That's impressive! Geez tmmicklabs, you're pretty demanding, why don't you ask him to sing "Yankee Doodle Dandy" as well. Of course chalk helps.
Rick Walker
Wade- Very cool!! Funny you should post a vid. on this. I am working on the exact same thing-but I am still a few mm away What is even funnier is Griparn saying that is a "real" close. Hmmmm-must be the other 90% of us that are certified didnt really close it Rick Walker
Bill Piche
Look at how impressive Wade's hand thickness is. That's what caught my eye. Once again, thru pictures and video, the GripBoard rises above all other forums on the net for not just talking the talk.

Rick Walker
Agreed!!! And-I am noticing that as my thumb strength and size goes up-so does my no set strength? We are just scratching the surface Thanks to KTA Rick Walker
Adam Black
How about one hand juggling and a no set close.BWAH! If anyone does that it will be Tom Black. Must be the power of the name!

Wade Gillingham
Yeah, since I closed the #3 4 years ago, it's always bugged me that I had to set it so deep. I always made the excuse that others have made that the gripper doesn't fit in my hand right so I have to set it deep. While I still think this is true (large hands are a hinderance not a help with the grippers) the reality is I was weak in this particular hand position, and still am very weak compared to what I can do with a good set. Yes, chalk helps me because my hands sweat a lot and i'm used to using it for weightlifting. I don't like the gripper swimming around in in my hand - it leads to knuckle sprains for me. Jonathan McMillan
Sounds cool! Monster masher!!!! I can do a no set no close with my #3 :stuart Jon@han
Griparn
Rick, I hope you didn't take my response seriously. I just meant that closing a #3 with no set is more impressive than closing with a set. I think it is a bigger feat of gripstrength.

Rick Walker
Griparn- Most certainly! However-people like Tou with a 7" hand might never close one without setting it-I struggle with 7.75" hands! A great feat! Rick Walker
