How Taxing?

So just how taxing is sledge hammer/wrist strengthening work and how often do you guys perform it?

Do you feel it needs as much time in between as say hitting a muscle group hard and needing a few days for full recovery? Or can it be trained more frequently safely?

I find it much harder to gauge when it comes to wrist, finger, and all tendons and ligs involved.

If I hit some heavy sledge levering I usually need a whole week to recover completely.

I also usually don't do anymore that once a week, but it depends on how hard you hit it.
