Hubgeezer
Nice pause, good close. It's been 7 years since I was a witness for a MM3 Cert. Amazing that it is getting cranked up to MM8! There is a competition going now, good luck to Tim and Paul! Tim, fantastic job running up the Ladder in record time.

Bill Piche
I'd like to also add the judges had the full high res video to use to judge rather than the youtube only. This was a very important judging obviously!
Six Barrel Shotgun
Big congratulations! I'm extremely impressed with such a solid close, on a gripper like that.
timstruse
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the support. I've had a couple people ask by email about my training over the past 6 months, so here's my response. Hope it benefits someone. I still fall for that hole of every time maxing out. I am very curious to see what you mean with bulk, as it seems, I get the impression that one would make much better gains with the RRBT Idea instead of the KTA idea. more volume on 50 / 70 % max. So very interested to see how much you would train in one week. Not to copy it one-o-one but it's interesting to read en take the best out of that. Thanks for sharing Tim and a HUGE accomplishment. Certainly a man to be reckoned with!

Florian Kellersmann
No doubt here that you could do that after seeing you latest #4 closes. Big congrats and keep it up! How about a 3.5 cert?
timstruse
Here is roughly what I've been doing with sets/reps. Week 1: (two harder work days and one recovery) Wed: 5x3@75% (speed) Fri: 5x3@50% (recovery) Sun: 3x1@90% (3 second overcrushes) + 3x3@70% (speed) Week 2: Same as Week 1 Week 3: (one harder work day and two recovery) Wed: 5x3@50% (recovery) Fri: 5x3@50% (recovery) Sun: 6x4@70% (speed) Week 4: Same as Week 3 Week 5: (recovery only) Wed: 5x3@50% (recovery) Fri: 5x3@50% (recovery) Sun: 5x3@50% (recovery) Week 6: strength is at its peak, so either: (1) cert attempt then begin cycle again next week; or (2) no cert attempt and begin cycle again immediately

Geralt
Here is roughly what I've been doing with sets/reps. Nice. See if I can use that with my adjustable gripper. Easy to set my max and then calculating my percentages in effort. Thanks Tim. Going to incorporate that. don't know if I'm going to do the MM7 this year however When I'm at it if I may ask: what about other gripwork and additional weighttraining? junior
Bill, might want to get an 8 and a 9. Tim wasn't at his max...
jchapman
Congrats Tim! One question about your training. When you use percentages like 70% and 50%, are you referring to grippers that have an RGC rating at 70% and 50% of your current max gripper RGC rating? Or, Are you using these percentages in a general sense to say make it "medium-light" and "light", seemingly by feel. Thanks.
eduard23
The idea with the MM8 and MM9 is good because Tim easly closed the MM7
Cannon
Thanks friend for being so generous with your training info! Amazing close. I feel like you're the one to beat after that double on the MM6 and now this!
timstruse
Very impressive close on MM7 Tim! Thanks for sharing out your recent routine too brother! No doubt it'll help a lot of peoole. Thanks, Russ. Hope it does help someone, but let me clarify I'm only saying this has worked for me - I have no idea if it will work for anyone other than me. I expected a much higher workload in reps! Thank you, and hope you do hit MM7. I lift four times per week, typically following the 5/3/1 program with the "boring but big" auxiliary scheme. My other grip training during the last 6 months has been the bare minimum to maintain strength at 2HP and thick bar. I do light wrist and forearm work on every gripper day, mostly for warm-up and injury avoidance. Thanks. Thanks. Yes, the percentages are based on my estimated 1RM in RGC#. E.g., my last cycle was based on #202, so my 75% was with a #152 COC3. I have several gaps in my grippers, so sometimes the V2 was used to fill a gap. Bill Piche
The idea with the MM8 and MM9 is good because Tim easly closed the MM7 He told me it was right at his max for this set width. If it was easy, there would have been 3 closed attempts on the video.
