Horseshoe bending ranking list

Rules:

1. The horseshoe bend must be completed within 3 minutes

2. The horseshoe must be bent past 180 degrees. To demonstrate this, the horseshoe must be placed on a flat surface and show that at least one of the two legs is free from the surface and pointing upwards. If needed you are allowed to push down on one end of the horseshoe to demonstrate that the horseshoe is past 180. However no tilting of the horseshoe is allowed during this demonstration, therefore the entire horseshoe must be visible during this part of the demonstration.

3. The horseshoe is not allowed to be bent under your feet. During the bend both feet must remain on the floor and you are not allowed to lean on any stationary object. Other than that you are free to use whatever technique suits you best.

4. Only single wraps allowed. Wraps can be no thicker than 1.25" in diameter when rolled up in the same direction as they will be wrapped on the horseshoe. This must be demonstrated by passing the wraps through a 1.25" hole. The hole must be of rigid material so not to expand while the wraps are passing through.

Leg padding is allowed as long as it is of "soft material", and must be demonstrated by folding the padding on camera. The leg padding must be shown and unwrapped to insure that there is nothing hidden in them. It will then be up to the judges to say what constitutes as "soft material".

No sleeves or wrapping of the elbows, wrist or hands is allowed.

5. Before the bend during the documentation of the horseshoe all numbers, markings and brands that might be on the shoe must be shown as clearly as possible. The centre of the shoe must be shown at all angles to prove that no modifications on the shoe have been made. This must be done before and after the bend. Used horseshoes are not allowed.

** These shoes must have both their width and thickness measured with a digital calliper

6. These horseshoes are the ones that will get you on the list. Other horseshoes will eventually be added to this list as soon as their strength has been determined to appropriately fill any of the possible gaps in this list.

7. Video submissions must be made either in this topic or through a PM to me with a link to the video.

Judges: David Wigren, Henrik Nyström, Mike Rinderle

Jedd Johnson and Mike Rinderle will be releasing their horseshoe DVD any day now. So alot of guys will probably be excited about horseshoe bending over the next few months.

So in the spirit of challenge I decided to post this list that I've been keeping over at another site for a while.

Please remember though that if you want to submit a bend, please PM me about it. I can't put it up if I never knew it happened :upsidedwn

Lets start training and make some horses shoe less :laugh

Ok so a few things have happened to this list. Today we added to rule #4 and #6. A harder horseshoe will always rank higher than a weaker one. But from now on when it comes to the same level shoes, a horseshoe bent without leg padding will be ranked higher than a horseshoe bent without leg padding.

We can all recognize that it is harder to bend a horseshoe without leg padding, so it is about time we recognized that on the official list.

The list have also been updated with three new bends:

Mike Rinderle have successfully bent the DS5 and climbed up to the shared 2nd place.

Henrik Nyström utterly DESTROYED the St. Croix Regular Plain 000, with no leg padding to boot. This was the bend that led to the discussion of adding the rules. Henrik needs to get extra recognition for what he accomplished

Daniel Reinard also bent the St croix Polo #1 during his submission to the Diesel Crew strongman challenge

The new ranking list with the complete set of rules now look like this:

Rules:

The bender can choose to bend without the use of leg padding, which will give him a higher placing on the list as per rule #6. It is not required by the bender to show in detail that he is not using any leg padding. However the judges will have the right to fail any bend that looks "suspicious".

The bender who bends the hardest horseshoe will always beat the bender who bent a weaker one. Regarding the same horseshoes a non leg padded bend will always beat a bend where leg padding was used.

7. Video submissions must be made either in this topic or through a PM to me with a link to the video.

Judges: David Wigren, Henrik Nyström, Mike Rinderle

We added a new shoe (SSP 10X22 #4) near the top of the food chain to bridge the gap between the SSP000 and the AB6.

We also had Richard Santos jump up on the list with a Lite Plain 3 (no leg panning) and I bent a little shoe to move into 2nd all alone.

19) Daniel Reinard, St. croix Polo #1, 8-26-2011

19) Dan Pace, St. croix Polo #1, 11-26-2011

Perhaps the most exciting is the participation of Jason Bergmann who is kicking everyones butt. Not so surprising considering that he is one of the strongest men of the planet. He currently shares the #1 spot with me, but that's just because he hasn't bent the next shoe in line yet. As soon as he attempts to cert on the harder shoes he will pull ahead.

At this point if anyone wants to be sombody in the world of horseshoe bending, they'll have to fight for a spot on this list. If there are any horseshoe benders on this site, you can post in this thread or just shoot me a PM. If you have any questions about the rules I'm happy to answer them.

Current shoes eligible for the list are:

1. St. croix Polo #1

2. Diamond Classic #1

3. St. croix Lite rim #3

4. St. croix Lite rim #1

5. St. croix Lite plain #3 / Kerckhaert SSP 8x22 #3**

6. Kerckhaert SSP 8x22 #2**

7. Kerckhaert SSP 8x20 #1**

8. Kerckhaert SSP 8x22 #1**

9. St. croix Regular Plain #000

10. Diamond Special #5

11. St. croix #5 XTRA / Kerckhaert SSP 10x22 #5**

12. St. croix Plain Regular #3

13. Kerckhaert SSP 8x18 #000**

14. Kerckhaert SSP Extra 8x22 #0**

15. St. Croix EZ #2 **

16. Kerckhaert SSP 10x22 #4**

17. St. Croix EZ #4 **

18. Kerckhaert SSP 10x22 Extra #3**

19. St. Croix EZ PLUS #3 **

20. AB 1x3/8 Draft Keg #6**

Things have really exploded since Jason started bending the shoes. Very motivational to see a world class strength athlete killing big steel.
