Question On Reverse Bending Technique

I want to see if i am doing it wrong or just need to work on my pain tolerance. I am looking to see when you bend reverse style, do you:

1) Bend it over the webbing between your thumb & index finger

2) Bend it over the base knuckle of your thumb

3) grip it tight enough to not have it touch your hand at all, except where you are gripping the wraps

I have looked at a bunch of video's and i just can not seem to get it. I can bend up to a 1/4" x 6" grade 5 but thats it. Partially because i ned to work on my strength but also because of technique. I find the webbing between my thumd & index finger to be sore for a couple of days when using that style, but i find it really hard to grip it tight enough for it not to touch that area. So any advise would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

I havn't done reverse in a good while and I'm no master of it. But I use different grip depending on what wraps I use.

If I use thicker wraps I bend it over the thumb and finger webbing.

If I use less pads I bend it over the thumb knuckle.

This is how I do it
