Consequences For Not Working Extensors?

Recommended Posts

This thread has gone on long enough. The consequences of not working the extensors, as found in medical journals, are quite severe and harmful. Special attention should be given to the penultimate symptom.

* A lack of energy;

* Low libido (sex drive);

* Depression;

* Irritability;

* Fatigue;

* Postural problems;

* Increased blood pressure;

* Loss of muscle;

* You exercise consistently but can't add any lean muscle;

* Loss of muscular strength;

* Loss of muscular endurance;

* Physical height reduction;

* Your erections are not "rock hard";

* Sleep disorders.

I'll have to start doing the hammer walks besides bands and OLL's I don't really know of anything else until I read all these coolidead! I like talking extension you don't really get alot of extension talk why is that? I've never seen any of it in comps. Any body else? Curious how do handstand pushups help with extensors?

my elobow has been hurting now since the end on Jan. I've tried everything! and it wn't go away :angry: I've been seeing an ART specialist, I've had physical thearpy, I've tried a dozen differnt things that people on the board have suggested and nothing has worked for me yet - at this point I've come to the conclusion to simply do nothing for an extended period of time to see if that works. I was training my extenors BTW just about everyday or every other day with the IM bands, but I still expierienced this elbow problem. I think it simply came down to over training or over use like Adam said - so listen to your body and try to avoid it initially because an elbow problem can really kill your grip strength

Bummer, bro. Eaton told me you were fighting an elbow issue the other day - I hate to see good folks down. I hope you heal up quickly!

I heard that sledgehammer levering is mainly an extensor movement, or at least that what is a hard weight for the extensors is nothing for the flexors so your extensors end up getting much more benefit from it. Is this true?

I think you mean sledgehammer walking? Tommy Heslep is a huge advocate. Take a hammer with the head hanging down. Hold the handle with the tips of your fingers opposing each other. Interlock your thumbs for stability. Now "walk" along the handle with your fingers until you reach the hammerhead. Repeat. You can really use anything with a handle--broom, rake, shovel...

what type of extensor exersize are you doing witha jar of pickels? how do you do it, hold it and move your wrist up and down?

rico

1. First you open the jar and take out all the pickles.

2. Then stick a pickle between each finger, making sure each pickle is centered perpendicular to your fingers.

3. squeeze your fingers together, trying to crack each pickle in half simultaneously (now this takes some practice).

4. Now if one can can do this consistently I would start on putting two pinkels between each finger.

5. If you get into the 3 pickels realm that is comparable to closing the #4 COC.

where can you buy pinkels? :laugh are they expensive?

Sorry it's been so persistent - I know you have a hard time laying off like this, Paul. :( I went through elbow problems some time back and it was very frustrating.

Paul, where exactly is this elbow pain located? What do your triceps look like compared to your biceps? What motions aggravate the area, does it hurt all the time or only if used? There's a million questions you have to ask yourself. My triceps are good but no where near the mass of my biceps. This caused problems, and trust me the push ups and chair dips helped. Also, your body needs plenty of vitamin C to make collagen to repair tissue. Make sure you consume a lot of it - and not the pills, the real stuff.
