I'm only just beginning grip. Currently about 1/8 away from closing the #1

Goals

1. Close the #2

2. Be able to do 10 door frame pullups (1/2 inch)

3. Close the #3

4. Generally improve my hand strength for climbing

My goals for next year:

grippers

MM3 and MM4

#4 (been my goal for the last 2 years now... best i did this year was 2-3mm with a deep set)

certify on the #3 before i turn 20

pinch

100kg in competition.

Get on and stay on the top10 list for euro pinch.

lifts

squat 260kg

deadlift 300kg

bench 180kg

push press 160kg

other goals

compete in the British Grip Champs again (and place this time ha ha)

compete in strongman at lest once

compete in powerlifting at least once and total over 700kg raw.

Ok, heres my goals for 2009 and where im at now for comparison.

My goals:

Certify on the #3 (can close my #3 from 35 mm)

2 hand pinch 90 kg (83,5 kg)

Onehandpinch 2 45:s (2 35:s with 2 fingers)

Rolling thunder 85+ (78 kg)

Hub lift 30kg (21)

All my records are both with left and right.

(Get going with the #3,5)

(Find and try the inch dumbel)

(Find and try a blob)

Grippers

Close a 4 right handed and a 3.5 left handed in competition with a 20mm block

Close the Vulcan to level 19 right and level 15 left with a 20mm block set.

MM6

Pinch

Pull in competition what I've pulled in training. If that's 111.7 or 116+ either would be ok. Either way move up the ladder and make those ahead sweat some.

Win the Brits again.

Hope my shoulders, back and anything else that aches ease up for the whole of 2009.

The rest I set my aim on as I feel the need. So if my shoulders etc feel better I MIGHT wanna bench more. But if not I wont.

All my goals seem to get thrown to the wayside as I train for comps so this year they'll mostly be based on comps.

are your hands big enough for these feats Derek?

I can only get the tips of my thumb, middle and ring fingers on the Blob50

I can lift 6 10's pretty easily with a pipe through it, but with the pipe out, the plates fan out. I wander if I added a "plate mate" to the bottoms of the outside plates if the extra weight on the bottom will keep them from fanning out - no what I mean?

also your 400 DL , is that DO axle or just 400?

Work back up to a Red/Bastard, MM1 maybe MM2, close my RB330n, work to a consistent sub minute deck tear, VHG MMS level 16, level 15 20mm block cert, level 13 CCS cert.

Try and get Blob, 5x10/11s cert both hands.

Have a go at some V bar and RT lifts.

Hello Rex,

I saw in your video that you did 6 tens, is there any specific type of plate that you have to use??

I trained today and lifted 6 tens, and then lifted 6x 5 kilo plates (66lbs total) - I have also recently lifted 4x ten kilo plates at Steve's gym (taped) - I don't do any pinching and was wondering what are classed as good levels of strength in this type of grip movement.

I have some goals for 2009 - I think that they are at the limit of my abilities (which aren't that great anymore to be honest) - I hope that luck is on my side.

Well done on your recent lifts - and please let me know what are considered "good" numbers on the plate pinching lifts.

laine - if you want to give pinching a good go, for you i would say the feats to go for would be three 20kg one hand pinch, and eight 5kg one hand pinch, you could also possibly try for 4 20kg with 2 hands

world class one hand pinch feats you are either already capable of doing or there abouts (if you found the right plates) would include two 25kg (pretty sure this has been done), four 10kg (not been done as far as i know), three 15kg (has been done by two people as far as i know) and seven 5kg (not been done as far as i know)

as far as the plates to use, i know for 5kg plates these are good http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/olympi...scs/3211_p.html if you think the ones you have now are a bit naff get two sets of 4 so you have 8 to work with / for three 20kg (some think this is impossible but im certain your capable of doing it with training) most plates would be fine though some better (the ones that hold chalk well) an i couldnt really tell you which - basically you want plates with large diameters so they are on the narrow side, the more hand you can wrap around the plates the better with wide pinching..so it helps you have hands big enough to wrap around a small tree!

clean ("frensh style) and strict-press the baby inch (53 kg)

Train grip at least twice per month all year.

Bend at least once weekly all year, then step it up to 3 times per week for the last 3 weeks pre BBB.

Do an Edgin Medley at the BBB & get at least 7" through 5.5"

Lift my baby Inch

Lift the Blob

Make Chad sweat at the BBB... :tongue

Non Grip

Get my dead back to top form, maybe hit a PL meet late summer & give a 750-775 range a pull. If I do a 3 way meet, total close to 2,000.

train hammer for HG & do the March meet again

Try to stick with a cardio program for more than 2 weeks.

Do 4 different types of strength comps this year - PL, Strongman, Grip, HG

Hahaha yeah they definitely are. I can't get too much on the blob by face (not like Chad, Jedd, Rex, etc.) but I can definitely get enough that it's doable, same goes for 6-10s. It's just 400 Paul, I'm a weaking remember :D:laugh Although typically my axle is just 10-15 behind my regular DL, so that should be in the general area.
