ScottW
Hey guys I just bent my second horseshoe and it was pretty ugly, even for me. Here's the link Any pointers would be great because I just end up muscling through it because I can't figure out the technique. Thanks

MalachiMcMullen
It looked good to me Scott If that start technique feels the most natural, then keep with it. With a lot of guys, it just comes natrual their start technique. I saw Pat P. bend a shoe Grimek styel(the conventional way) and just had at it and it felt very natural. Other guys on here find starting shoes that way to be akward and unnatural feeling. Foxman is one such cat. He starts them just like you do, by pushing the ends into eachother. The difference is that he puts it ontop of his thigh and just leans forward more instead of between his legs. Here's a vid of his: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JxP_byef9I...feature=related Try that one and you might find the kink goes faster, you might find it's slow and clumsy. If the latter, just stick with your start technique It's all about being comfortable in the movement(and developing tougher thighs). The best advice I know to give is to just keep bending shoes. The first day I bent a shoe I ended up bending 3 of them and they kept feeling easier because I dialed in my technique. Feeling that groove is very important. ScottW
Yeah I tried experimenting with starting the shoe with it posted on my hip but the shoe would always twist whenever I tried to reef on it. If I can bend the shoe 15 or 20 degrees this isn't a problem though for some reason. Thanks for the help Malachi. I've seen most of your videos and you make it look easy. Apparently that's not the case, at least for me. And thanks for the link yodajaeger. I'ver actually read that thread before but it was before I had ever tried a shoe so it all went straight over my head. On a sidenote how far does a shoe have to be bent to certify for FBBC? Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try. I'm gonna have to make my next ones count because I only have 3 shoes left.
