Acorn Inch Lift Or Bust!

Well I made it back from Texas finally. Had an interesting vacation and great time at the contest. While I was in Houston my Hoss of a cousin closed the #2 first try and put a pretty good scare on my easy #3. Also bent one of my hard 60ds DU without too much trouble. Got to checkout my uncles 34' ford hotrod he's almost done with and have lunch with Dennis Rogers.

Yesterday, I decided to try a few feats to see where I'm at. I've been thinking about doing some shows since meeting with Dennis.

- Closed Eatons #4 in choker set at 1/2" a couple times

- Tore a deck of Classics that Eric gave me after the contest in about 10sec. Much better than at the contest. Thanks Casey and everyone else who gave me some help with card technique after the contest.

- Quartered a 1500page phone book.

- bent 2 6x1/4 G2s in paper towel reverse style

- attempted hard 60d Reverse in washcloth only got to about 30deg

- attempted 12" cement coated griprite spike to 30deg

- Bent a 3/8 x 1 3/8 x 36" concrete stake to about 18" between legs ( very springy this thing )

- SH HG300 filed with 5# RH and #2 +5# LH

- RT lift 185# a couple times

- Tore another deck of Classics pretty fast, then notched the remainder a few times today. best corner was about 40 cards.

They're going to need to invent a separate medley just for you at the next Show of Hands contest.

Thanks Sam.

Did Kettlebell conditioning work this morning

15min with 16kg KB - stopped counting reps after first set of KB Bottoms up snatches at 25 per hand. did snatches, KB cleans, swings, chinese wall squats, halos in a interval method using HR monitor. I would run HR up to 165+ then back off till it got down to 110 then run it back up and repeat for 15min.

Gonna try to lose some weight, Current is about 253#. gonna try to do a little throwing again too. Did some discus and shot a couple days ago. was happy to still be able to throw over 140' with the 2K after not touching a discus for 12years. Very happy back had no issues with the stand throws or me falling on my butt on my 2nd spin.

Nicely sore from yesterday.

Thanks Hugo.

I did my first show over the weekend, and it went pretty well and quicker than I expected too. all told maybe 23 minutes for main stuff and a couple of additional feats afterwards. I got video of most of it(cameraman missed 1st feat and the 2 after ones because it was getting dark). Even had the spectators try a few things. Very fun. Looking forward to doing another one.

Feats:

frying pan roll

60d reverse

Deck of cards tear

12" spike

10x3/8 carriage bolt started on back of neck

St. Croix #2 Ultralite horseshoe heart

#3 Close

6.5x5/16 HRS Audience member bent

6 3/8x3/8 unbraced (fairly easy stock as far as 3/8 goes)

18"x1/2" brace bend

2.5" phone book

48x1/2" rebar coil started on back of neck

48"x3/4" braced bend

After ones

45# plate hub clean and press a few times

Drove 2 16d nails thru 1" pine by hand

Yesterdays workout.

Bench

3x135

3x225

3x275

2x315

0x365 got it about halfway up

565x12sec hold 4" from lockout just off the rack. missed the rack on one side on the way down. that was fun.

standing press static holds 2" from lockout.

135

185

225x10sec

275x12sec

295x12sec

axle rack lockouts from knee

3x195

3x285

1x335 longish hold

2 attempts 375 I think

1 long hold with 285 thumbless

then playing

1x195 clean and press axle

1HDL 2" bar

3x105 snatch axle

2x105 reverse curl axle

20sec hold thumbless reverse wrist curl 105#

24K and 32K cleans, bottoms up snatches and a couple bottoms up presses. Didnt count the reps, just went til heart was racing each set.

Thanks Odin, I was working grip more than back for this workout and that is why I was doing the lockouts. I like to focus on the area I'm trying to hit and with the lockouts I can focus on holding it and hold it a little longer vs worrying about the lift too.

Good stuff, I like the static pressing I'll have to try that!

I like it. my deltoids(front back and middle heads) among other things are still quite sore today. That was the first time I ever tried the overhead press sublockout holds.
