Ben, Looks my first planned contest of the year is the TPS event up in Mass.

Thanks to that, I figured I needed to work on 2hp again:

2HP:

95x3

115x3

135x3

155x3

165x2

185x0 it floated but wasnt coming up

175x1,1,1 Three solid singles

Now that I know where I stand, I know where I need to go! Id love to do a BW(210 lbs) competition lift, but thats a long way to go in two months.

That should be my first contest ever. I look forward to meeting you...and I'm sure you'll kick my butt with those kind of numbers.

Vice Gripper:

7,3x5

8,2x5

8,3x10,10

I like my steady progress here, although the weight is still kinda low

2" Vbar, both hands worked equally

155x5

185x5

180x5,5,5

I dropped 5 lbs cuz I didnt think my hands would make it through all 4 sets at 185 and I was right, I barely made it through the last 3 sets at 180. Gonna have to deal with the pain, all work sets at 185 next week.

My hands felt so beat up I skipped the Formulator, gonna hit it tonight.

Deadlift, DO, Axle: 145x5,245x10 nice strong set, up to 255 next week

Bench: 195x7

Pullups: BW+20x10 Another good set, up to 25 next week

Axle C+P: 135x8

Curls: 75x10 up next week to 80lbs

Ab wheel rollout x12

Ab wheel pikes x7

245x10 puts my max deadlift at 325, which seems about right for me. Im looking for 350 at TPS. Totally forgot the bench dips, but it wasnt happening tonight after I ate dinner.....

Some grip work last night

Vice Gripper:

8,2x5

8,3x5

7,5x10,10

2" Vbar, both hands worked equally

155x5

185x3,3,3,3 up to 190 next week

Decided to drop to triples til competition time, the 5 reps sets were pummeling my hands for other grip work later in the week.

Formulator:

Ext: 5lbsx18 almost got my 20

Flex: 22.5lbsx20 up to 25lbs next week

I played with some blobs in between sets last night too. I pulled the 42.5lber twice left and right and floated the 45lber with my right, nothing with the left. Very pleased with that since Ive pulled the 45 once with my right, ever. The strength is still there.........

Had planned a workout for friday, but came down with a head cold/sinus thing thursday, fought it all weekend and still probably not over it. I still managed to get in the weight room today and lift some iron. Not a complete workout, but I hit the main stuff.

Deadlift, DO, Axle: 165x5,255x10 this blew my mind, especially being laid up all weekend coughing and I barely got through 245x10 last week, on to 265!!

Bench: 145x5, 185x10 I was getting stuck at 195 the last few weeks, so I dropped down, back to 195 next week

Pullups: BW+25x9

Axle C+P: 150x1, 135x7 Im a dope who can't add weights properly, first rep felt kinda heavy and I was right!

Cut the workout here, my body was fine but my head was pounding.

Thanks man! Im glad that my blob strength hasn't completely gone away!

Tonight grip work:

VG: 8,3 x5 7,5 x5

At this point I decided to see where I was on the real grippers and pulled out my #3 borrowed from Eaton

Right Hand: 5 solid singles!!!

Left Hand: 1 iffy single then 4 singles with the #2.5

That is by far the strongest performance ever with my right hand, very pleased with the progress.

Finished off gripping with the VG at 8,4x10,10

Both hands worked equally, except where the #3 was concerned......

2" Vbar: 165x5, 195x3, 190x3,3,3

Formulator: Ext: 5lbsx20 FINALLY, moving up to 7.5lbs

Flex: 25lbsx20 up to 27.5 next week

Overall, pretty satisfied with tonights workout.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Got slammed at work last week, played with the kettlebells when I had the time, no real workouts to report.

Last night:

Before deadlifting, I cleaned the 175 and almost pressed it, couldnt lock it out.

Deadlift, DO, Axle: 175x5,255x10

Bench: 185x8

Pullups: BW+25x8

Axle C+P: 135x7

Curls: 80x8

Bench Dips: BW+25x10

Dinner was ready, didnt get to any ab stuff, chowed down on some venison fajitas instead.

Good to see you back again Chuck! Stay a while this time man. I'm sure you still have quite a base to work with even after a year and a half gone.

Thanks Ben, its good to be back. Ive spent the week cleaning out the weight room as it was full of junk from over the last year. It was good to dust off the old Axle and take a swing at it.

Current Max on DO Axle deadlift: 145x1, 235x1, 285x1, 305x0, 295x1 Not bad considering my all time max was 325.

Axle clean and press: 145x1

Grippers: I closed my IM2.5 with both hands in between deadlifts.

Gonna test bench and pullups later on today.

Not far off your top performance on the Axle from your peak! Wonder what your max DO pull on the Axle would be right now...

Edit: duh, I saw that you lifted 295lbs the other day...
