How Much Pressure To Pinch 45's

If you do use a bathroom scale or TTK or any other means to figure out your pinching pressure, you can quickly translate that into the pinching pressure to lift two 45s.

Your current max pinch force from scale, TTK, or whatever = Pmax

Max weight you can lift by pinching a similar width object = Wmax

Pinch force needed to lift two 45s = (Pmax)(90)/(Wmax)

This works because the friction force goes up proportionally with the pinch force. You still need to measure pinch somehow, though.

That's a pretty good idea, actually - and probably the key. If you attached a small plate (like a 5lb) to each side of a board, you'd match the friction. Then just hang weight from the board like any other pinch block. Actually, that's a pretty good training idea anyway - since it makes block pinching more specific to pinching plates. I guess I'll be tinkering in the garage this weekend...
