No Set Close Vs. Set Close - What Can You Do?

So in the thread discussing optimal no-set close method here:

http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=11539

the question arose of how does hand size impact no-set vs. set strengh. What I'd like to know is:

1. What's the hardest gripper you can close with a set?

2. What's the hardest gripper you can close no-set?

3. How long is your hand?

4. Do you train the no-set close?

I can no set close a BBSA(1.2), set close a PDA243(1.5), and my hands are7".

Set and close with a pause my hardest BBE, spread 2 7/8"

Table no set slightly below average #3, spread 3".

What's your hand size Heath? Nevermind, see you posted it.

If we can keep this thread to just those three pieces of data from everyone, then discuss in the other thread, I think that might help reach a conclusion.

I can Table-No Set my BBM and can close an HG300 with a set.

Hands are 8 1/4"

I think the missing element would be: do you train the no set close or not ? As for me i don't but give it a try from time to time.

Same here, haven't concentrated on it since May, just the occasional attempt about once a month.

8" hands.

TNS #2 (or very close usually)

Set close BBSM (was a whipser away, but for this argument close enough I think. Also, out of 5 others compared to, it was the toughest SM according to the owner).

I do train the TNS as well as the set. Usually in the same workout, but I don't train grippers near as hard as alot of you.

Personally I don't get anything out of a deep set. My normal sets are just a bit narrower than credit card width. Last night I closed my #3 twice with my normal set and once with a very small set that would have passed the CC rule. Chalk seems to help alot in eliminating most of the the need for a set because the only reason I set is to get my pinkie on the gripper. Last night was only the second time closing the #3 for me, the first being Bob L's Michigan Grip contest. So I was pretty happy and suprised that I would be able to close it under the CC rule. I guess never having used a deep set has paid off for me.

My hand length is 7 3/4 or so.
